Izi is a Niger-Congo language spoken in the Anambra and Imo States of Nigeria by approximately 200,000 people . Izi is closely related to Ikwo, Ezaa, and Mgbo, and the three are considered to form a dialect cluster known as Izi-Ezaa-Ikwo-Mgbo. These dialects form one language under the Igboid genus; this language will be referred to simply as “Izi. ” Together with Ikwo, Ezaa, and Mgbo, there are almost 600,000 speakers of the language. There are no dialects of Izi.
