Ivo Banac is a Croatian historian and liberal politician. He is the Bradford Durfee Professor of History and director of the Council on European Studies at Yale University. As of 2009, Banac is the President of the Croatian Helsinki Committee, and a consultant for the Bosnian Institute. Until 1999 he was director of the Institute on Southern Europe at the Central European University, Budapest.
