The International Commission for Optics (ICO) was created in 1947 with the objective to contribute to the progress and dissemination of knowledge in optics. It is a Scientific Associate of the International Council for Science (ICSU) and Affiliated Commission of the International Union for Pure and Applied Physicsw (IUPAP).
