  • Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA, Nationale Forschungsorganisation für Agronomie) ist Teil der französischen Forschungslandschaft, die aus einigen wenigen großen Einheiten besteht, die mit Akronymen benannt sind und auf bestimmte Fachgebiete spezialisiert sind. Das INRA wurde wie seine Geschwister CNRS, INSERM, INRIA und CEA kurz nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg gegründet und ist auf biologische Fragestellungen mit einer Anwendbarkeit in der Landwirtschaft spezialisiert. Mit etwa 8800 Angestellten, davon 1800 Wissenschaftler, 2360 Ingenieure, 4640 Techniker und Verwaltungsmitarbeiter sowie 1200 Doktoranden und etwa 1000 ausländische Gaststudenten und Forschern, ist es nach Publikationen die weltweit zweitgrößte Organisation für agronomische Fragestellungen und die größte in Europa. Das Budget betrug 2005 ca. 680 Millionen Euro. Standorte von INRA befinden sich in den meisten größeren Städten, aber vor allem in: Rennes Tours Paris Versailles-Grignon Clermont-Ferrand Jouy-en-Josas (laut einer modernen Legende soll das angebliche Leuchtkaninchen dort erzeugt worden sein) Nantes
