In The City aims to be Britain's answer to the SXSW festival in Texas, with many new bands and acts being discovered and signed by record company bosses. In September 2005 the compilation album In The City - Unsigned 2005 was released on iTunes featuring songs performed by unsigned bands which played at the festival that year. This has continued annually. A southern hemisphere edition of In The City was planned for late 2007. However, the conference was postponed as a result of Wilson's emergency kidney operation . Despite Wilson's death in August 2007, In The City will continue.
