- Immortal Cities: Children of the Nile is a city-building game set in ancient Egypt, developed by Tilted Mill Entertainment. The game was released November 2004 in the United States and February 2005 in Europe. Children of the Nile is a City-Builder game made by Immortal Cities, a company comprised at least partially of teams from past City-Builder game making groups, such as Impressions Games, and it's parent Sierra, a strong but hard to fully discern bond remains between what remains of each company. Based in Ancient Egypt, The goal of the game is to construct a city using a very unique style of play, ranging from a unique feature in that roads are a total secondary need. Citizens will take care of themselves regardless of path connections between buildings, and in fact a fully working city CAN be made with no roads whatsoever (Though this may lead to some placement difficulties. ) Building off the earlier game Pharaoh's monument construction, and inspiration taken from later games, resource-based construction is at an all-time high in this game. From needing a brick-maker to produce bricks for even a simple granary to be built, to needing a Bricklayer to place them for needed city buildings such as the Bakery which provides bread to your citizens as a form of currency, a Papyrus maker who makes Papyrus to trade outside the city or provide to your "Educate Elite" to improve their performance, Even the smallest 3 monuments are built by your Bricklayers. Further expounding on the monument construction, Quarrying of everything from Basalt to Quartz from mines and giant beds of stone, and then pulling the rocks on a sledge or carrying the gems in a sack, Shop keepers and Laborers alike move their needed materials to their destination. Jewelry made of Gold settings, Emerald gems and fine craftsmanship are made available to your Nobles, and Pyramids as tall as mountains are built next to your city, using only Laborers and an Overseer to ensure their productivity. Population control is very important, as a new style for expansion has been used. Instead of drawing Immigrants from an outside source, like in just about every city-builder ever released, Children of the Nile draws it's city population from local villages made of huts, locates next to fields of flax. A set number of Villagers is added to every map, with a rather unforgiving set of rules to their function. Birthrate is not something that is well explained or, for that matter, coded, and a city can sit idle, chugging away in a self-sufficient design for 12 full hours with no more than maybe 8 people being added to a villagers population. It is for this reason it is suggested expansion and gameplay are taken SLOWLY, as a large number of your workers may very well end up being the children of already-employed citizens. The "Educated Elite" that are produced by the game are gained through 2 means. The first (and potentially a few others, depending on the size of your city at the start of a game, this is rather dependent on your building-style) Educated person is added when your first high-class citizens join. This can be from a Noble moving in, or from some people taking residence in a series of luxury shops. With enough of each, 3+ graduates can be produced before ever building any higher-level buildings. Later graduates are produced the way they are in any society, Someone worth calling a teacher (In this game's case, a Priest) is assigned to teach, (Right-clicking an educated-elites home provides options on what they are to be doing. ) and heads to a school that has been fully built. With the use of Papyrus, a graduate rate of 3+ a year can be gained, while without it can take as long as 2-5 years to make even one. As with the earlier game Pharaoh, floodplain farming is the only local source of food, and in fact perhaps the ONLY source. Farmers are controlled by a capacity limiter, which is determined by your number of nobles and the level of their home from small to large. Your Palace adds 10 farm capacity at 100% upgrade, and a fully upgraded noble home provides an additional 8. When not farming, harvesting, or partying, farmers spend their time building anything zone within your city that does NOT require bricks. Farmers are not Bricklayers, but they will construct what they can. The same rule of construction applies to Servants, and perhaps laborers, though if you have any idling laborers, it would be wise to get another Overseer. With Children of the Nile Enhanced Edition, the main content change was the addition of the Brickyard. A small palette of wood that takes no construction and is free is placed where you want it, and once a day it loads up a percentage of the bricks in your city. This percentage is equal to how many Brickyards you have placed, so 2 yards will store 50% of your bricks on each, while 4 will have 25% and so on. There are other changes made, but in this gamers humble opinion, they aren't worth the energy.

Caesar, Lords of the Realm, Pharaoh a Zeus. Všichni obyvatelé mají vlastní jména a tvoří rodiny. Hra obsahuje tři velké kampaně na lehké, střední a vysoké obtížnosti, z nichž každá obsahuje několik scénářů. Tyto scénáře velkých kampaní lze hrát i jednotlivě.
