The Immediacy CMS has a browser-based interface, similar to standard office software. The WYSIWYG interface allows users to create pages featuring tables, images, and database driven content. Additional features include document management, auto categorization and automatic synchronization of content between multiple servers. The system is built around Microsoft . NET and uses Microsoft SQL Server for content storage. Immediacy CMS was independently reviewed in May 2007 by market analysts Bloor Research which concluded that the CMS was intuitive, easy to use and enabled "subject matter experts" to create standards compliant XHTML 1.0 Strict pages without requiring technical skills. In June 2007 Immediacy was acquired by rival content management vendor, Mediasurface Plc. Immediacy continues to operate as a standalone business unit within the Mediasurface group. In July 2008, the Mediasurface group was acquired by Alterian and Immediacy CMS became part of Alterians suite of products described as an Enterprise Marketing Platform.
