- The Ichthus Music Festival is an annual Christian music festival in Wilmore, Kentucky, featuring acts like David Crowder Band, Third Day, Switchfoot, tobyMac, Phil Keaggy, Esterlyn, Chris Tomlin, Newsboys, and Relient K. From 2002 to 2005, severe weather dominated Ichthus. In 2002, storms brought heavy rain and strong winds Sunday morning and many were evacuated after the final concert to area churches and schools. In 2003, strong storms caused Friday night concerts to be canceled. Radar images show a clearing directly above the festival shielding participants from the heavy rain, lightning, and winds -- this is referred to as the "Ichthus rainy day miracle. " In 2004, heavy rains on opening day shut down the roads on Ichthus Farm and in Wilmore. To avoid similar problems, several miles of pavement were installed on the farm. In 2005, severe storms on Friday evening coupled with high winds, light snow and 30 degree temperatures. Beginning in 2006, the festival was moved to mid-June, a more climate friendly time of year. The move to June also improves attendance since youth groups need not miss school. Since the date change, the festival coincides with Atlanta Fest - a Christian music festival in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2006, the number of attendees to Ichthus dropped to about 14,000 - a 35% decrease attributed to the late moving of the date to summer. In 2007, Ichthus Ministries said that the number of pre-registered Ichthusers was the same as the 2006 festival despite the widespread knowledge of the date change. But, by early Saturday, the number of attendees had grown to 19,000+ campers, 35% more than 2006. In 2008, Ichthus was plagued with cicada bugs, they swarmed the campsites and all of the stages, but everyone still had a great time. Even with the large amount of bugs there were some awesome concerts including Hawk Nelson, Skillet, Disciple, Etc... even though there where some cancellations and bug problems this festival was a true life changing experience. Ichthus now has 7 stages where bands play and speakers speak: Air1 Main Stage, Deep End Stage, Edge Stage, JSL Indie Stage 1, JSL Indie Stage 2, Worship Stage, and Techno Stage.
