- IC 5146, also Caldwell 19, and the Sh 2-125, Cocoon Nebula, is a reflection/emission nebula and Caldwell object in the constellation Cygnus. IC 5146 is a star cluster and the nebula is Sh2-125. It shines at magnitude +10.0/+9.3/+7.2. Its celestial coordinates are RA 21 53.5, dec+47° 16′. It is located near the naked-eye star Pi Cygni, the open cluster NGC 7209 in Lacerta, and the bright open cluster M39. The cluster is about 4,000 ly away, and the central star that lights it formed about 100,000 years ago; the nebula is about 12 arcmins across, which is equavalent to a span of 15 light years. When viewing IC 5146, dark nebula Barnard 168 (B168) is an inseparable part of the experience, forming a dark lane that surrounds the cluster and projects westward forming the appearance of a trail behind the Cocoon.

Der Nebel hat eine scheinbare Ausdehnung von rund 10 Bogenminuten und ist etwa 3000 Lichtjahre von der Erde entfernt; seine physische Ausdehnung beträgt damit ca. 10 Lichtjahre. Der Nebel ist ein Sternentstehungsgebiet mit ionisiertem atomarem Wasserstoff und hat sowohl emittierende, reflektierende als auch absorbierende Bestandteile. IC 5146 befindet sich von der Erde aus gesehen am östlichen Ende der länglichen Dunkelwolke Barnard 168 und ist mit dieser zusammen Teil einer ausgedehnten Molekülwolke. Etwas westlich liegt der Reflexionsnebel von vdB 147, der vermutlich auch zum Komplex gehört. Die im Innern der Wolke ablaufende, rege Sternentstehung führt zur Bildung eines jungen offenen Sternhaufens mit der Bezeichnung Collinder 470, einer scheinbaren Helligkeit von 7,2 mag und einem geschätzten Alter von wenigen hunderttausend Jahren. Dieser Sternhaufen und insbesondere der hellste Stern in seinem Zentrum, BD +46° 3474 (Typ B0 V, 10 mag), sind verantwortlich für die Ionisation des Nebels und damit für sein Leuchten. Sie schaffen eine "Höhle" im Staub und Gas der Molekülwolke und eröffnen uns somit den Blick in sein Inneres. Der Nebel wurde fotografisch von Edward Barnard auf einer Aufnahme vom 11. Oktober 1893 entdeckt, später unabhängig davon auch von Max Wolf (28. Juli 1894).

Elle se trouve près du bord Est de la constellation, près de celle du Lézard, en plein dans la Voie lactée, à une heure en AD de la Nébuleuse de l'Amérique du Nord. Elle est également une zone de formation d'étoiles.

- IC 5146 è un ammasso aperto legato ad una nebulosa diffusa visibile nella costellazione del Cigno. Si individua 3,5 gradi ad est di M39, nella parte settentrionale della costellazione; è invisibile con un binocolo, occorre un telescopio di 150mm per apprezzare l'oggetto minimamente. È un piccolo ammasso circondato da una nebulosa molto raccolta (a forma di Bozzolo), connessa a sua volta ad un sistema di nebulosità oscure, conosciute con la sigla B 168, che si estende per circa 2 gradi in direzione di M39, evidentissima anche con piccoli strumenti in quanto oscura un ricco campo stellare. La stella principale dell'ammasso ha magnitudine 9,74 (probabilmente però appare solo in "sovraimpressione", perché la sua distanza sarebbe inferiore a quella dell'ammasso). Quest'insieme di nebulose avrebbero una distanza dal Sole pari a circa 3300 anni-luce.
- IC 5146 (również Mgławica Kokon) – obszar H II znajdujący się w konstelacji Łabędzia. Została skatalogowana przez Stewarta Sharplessa w jego katalogu pod numerem 125. Mgławica ta znajduje się na końcu ciemnej mgławicy Barnard 168 w odległości około 4000 lat świetlnych od Ziemi a rozciąga przez 15 lat lat świetlnych. Mgławica Kokon otacza swoją jonizującą masywną gwiazdę centralną. W jej środku znajduje się gromada gwiazd o małej masie. Są to gwiazdy podobne do Słońca, lecz znacznie od niego młodsze. Wiek gwiazd gromady szacuje się na około miliona lat. Gromada ta jest więc tak młoda że gwiazdy do niej należące nieosiągnęły jeszcze ciągu głównego.

- IC 5146 (ayrıca Caldwell 19 ve Koza Bulutsusu olarak da bilinir), Kuğu takımyıldızı'nda bulunan ve Caldwell Kataloğu'nda yer alan bir Yansıma/Salma bulutsusu. Görünen parlaklığı +10.0/+9.3/+7.2. gökyüzü koordinatları S.A. 21 53.5, D.A.+47° 16′. Çıplak gözlede görülebilen Pi Cygni, Kertenkele takımyıldızı içerisindeki açık yıldız kümesi NGC 7209 ve parlak açık yıldız kümesi M39 yakınlarında bulunmaktadır. Koza Bulutsusu'nun iç kısmını, yeni gelişmekte olan bir yıldız kümesi oluşturmaktadır. Diğer yıldız oluşum bölgeleri gibi; o da genç, sıcak yıldızların harekete geçirdiği ışıldayan kırmızı hidrojen gazı ve görünmez bir molekül bulutunun sınırında, tozdan yansıyan mavi yıldız ışığı ile kendini göstermektedir. Bununla birlikte, bulutsunun merkezinde bulunan parlak yıldız büyük olasılıkla yalnızca birkaç yüz bin yaşında olup, yıldız oluşturan toz ve gaz molekül bulutundaki bir oyuğun içini boşaltırken, bulutsunun parlamasını da güçlendirmektedir.
