The character was named after Huey P. Newton, one of the founders of the Black Panther Party and is voiced by American actress Regina King in all episodes. Huey, who grew up with his brother Riley (also voiced by King) on the south side of Chicago, was moved along with his brother to the peaceful, predominately white suburb of Woodcrest by their Granddad.
