The track also crossed over to the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where it only got as far as number 67 that same year. Although this single would make Young a one-hit wonder, "Hot Shot" is still considered by many as a club classic and an Old School radio staple to this day. "Hot Shot" was also featured in the 1990 movie "Reversal of Fortune" and was later used as a sample in Daft Punk's song "Indo Silver Club" on their 1996 album Homework. In 2007, nearly 30 years after the original charted and 16 years after Young's death, MaxRoxx Music released "Hot Shot: The Karen Young Reheat," which is an updated version of "Hot Shot," this time with new mixes using the original's vocals. This version, which charted as "Hot Shot 2007," also reached the Hot Dance Club Play chart, where it peaked at number 7 in March 2008.
