The group's most notable performances to date have included sets at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, the Newport Folk Festival, South by Southwest, High Sierra Music Festival, Bonnaroo Music Festival, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. They have also headlined The Fillmore in their home city of San Francisco. They have performed with a wide array of artists, including Phil Lesh, Ben Harper, Chris Thile, Bela Fleck, Peter Rowan, and Bill Nershi. Well Oiled Machine, HBR's studio album, produced by Mike Marshall and featuring guest appearances by Peter Rowan and Darol Anger, was released in early 2006. Limbs Akimbo, HBR's most recent studio album, released in 2009, features Jackie Greene and Zach Gill. Zac Matthews announced his departure from Hot Buttered Rum on November 30th, 2008
