Hoogkarspel is a village in the municipality Drechterland, located in the north west of the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland and the region of West-Frisia. Hoogkarspel was a separate municipality until 1979, when it was merged into the new municipality of Bangert, which has been renamed to Drechterland in 1980.

Snel hierna kwam men er achter dat Bangert niet binnen de gemeentegrenzen lag en werd in 1980 de gemeente hernoemd tot de gemeente Drechterland. In 2006 fuseerde deze gemeente met de gemeente Venhuizen. De nieuw gevormde fusiegemeente bleef de naam Drechterland houden.
