- Holly Golightly is a British singer-songwriter. She is a former member of the all-girl garage band Thee Headcoatees, the female incarnation of the Billy Childish group Thee Headcoats. For her solo career, she draws from rhythm and blues, rockabilly, and sounds of the 1960s or earlier. She has released thirteen studio albums of her own and has collaborated with other artists, such as Billy Childish and Rocket From The Crypt, and most notably The White Stripes; she is featured on the track "Well It's True That We Love One Another" from their album, Elephant. She performed two songs on the soundtrack of the movie Broken Flowers: 1 "There Is an End (Featuring Holly Golightly)" by The Greenhornes & Holly Golightly (which can also be found on the Greenhornes' album Dual Mono), and 2) "Tell Me Now So I Know" by Holly Golightly (found on the album Truly She Is None Other), which is a song originally written by English singer/songwriter Ray Davies of The Kinks. She is also a collector of rare old songs which she often covers. Most recently, Holly has teamed up to form a duo, recording and touring extensively with her long time bandmate Lawyer Dave. As Holly Golightly and The Brokeoffs, they have released two albums to date, You Can't Buy A Gun When You're Crying in 2007 and Dirt Don't Hurt in 2008. You Can't Buy A Gun When You're Crying was inspired by comedian Lord Carrett's joke "I learned a lot from my second marriage... I learned they won't sell you a hand gun if you're crying..."
- Holly Golightly ist eine britische Sängerin und Songwriterin. Als Freundin des Thee Headcoats-Schlagzeugers Bruce Brand wurde Golightly bei einem Auftritt der Headcoats von der Band aufgefordert spontan etwas zu singen. Dies überzeugte Frontmann Billy Childish so sehr, dass er kurz darauf Thee Headcoatees mit Golightly als Sängerin ins Leben rief (1991). Nach vier Jahren verließ sie die Gruppe und veröffentlichte 1995 ihr Debütalbum The Good Things, das im Gegensatz zu den Headcoatees-Veröffentlichungen verschiedene Musikstile verband. Es folgten viele weitere Singles, EPs und Alben. Auf ihnen arbeitete Golightly wiederholt mit anderen Musikern zusammen, darunter mit den White Stripes auf deren Album Elephant, Mudhoney, Rocket From the Crypt und im Song "There's an end" von den Greenhornes. Jack White von den White Stripes schrieb die Liner Notes für ihr Album Truly She's None Other (2003). 2005 erschienen zwei ihrer Songs auf dem Soundtrack zu Jim Jarmuschs Film Broken Flowers. Neben eigenen Songs covert die Musiksammlerin unbekannte Songs, vor allem aus dem Soul der 1960er Jahre. Seit 2007 tritt sie überwiegend zusammen mit Lawyer Dave als Duo "Holly Golightly and the Brokeoffs" auf. Die Musik hat sich hierbei stark in Richtung Folk verändert.
- Holly Golightly es un personaje de ficción creado por el escritor norteamericano Truman Capote,protagonista de su famosa novela Breakfast at Tiffany's, de 1958. Es hasta el día de hoy un ícono popular, tanto de la novela como personaje en sí, luego de haber sido interpretada en la pantalla por otro ícono de moda, la actriz Audrey Hepburn, quien encarnó a Holiday "Holly" Golightly en la adaptación cinematográfica de la novela, la oscarizada película del mismo nombre que el libro, realizada en 1961. Características Físicamente,Holly es descrita por el autor del libro como una muchacha joven,de 19 años de un cabello de varios tonos y colores,delgada y de cabello corto. Sin embargo, la Holly interpretada por Hepburn sólo poseía la delgadez de la descripción realizada por Capote. En la película podemos ver a Holly representada con más edad,de cabello largo, y rayos rubios,que mantenía constantemente tomado. En cuanto a la personalidad de Holly,es una chica en apariencia inocente,seductora, vanidosa y por sobre todo,astuta y ambiciosa. Manifiesta durante todo el transcurso del libro y la película que desea atrapar a un hombre rico y casarse, que los hombres le dan dinero cuando va al tocador,y que es incapaz de ahorrar dinero porque siempre termina gastándolo. No le interesa la edad de los hombres con quien sale, sino que sean capaces de mantenerla en una cena. En el libro queda manifiesto que Holly es una prostituta de lujo, y además bisexual(apelando al carácter provocativo de Capote,reconocido homosexual). Pero, otra vez,Holly es cambiada en la película, siendo mostrada como una joven inocente,simpática,extraña,ambiciosa,astuta y dulce(apelando esta vez a la imagen dulce y pura de Hepburn) Estilo Esta es la parte en la que ambas Hollys, la de la película y la del libro, están completamente conectadas. Ambas son descritas como una mujer glamorosa y de excelente gusto para vestir. Lo que ayudó a difundir el estilo Golightly fue que el encargado de diseñar los vestidos del personaje para el filme fue el famoso diseñador Hubert De Givenchy,lo que le dio el toque perfecto de elegancia al personaje, convirtiéndolo en un ícono. Sucesos importantes a través del libro -El primer suceso transcurre cuando habla por primera vez con su vecino, el desconocido narrador de la historia,y termina revelándole partes importantes de su vida,como la existencia de su hermano Fred,un joven, aparentemente con retardo mental, y adicto a la mantequilla de maní. -Holly es la mensajera de un mafioso llamado Sally Tomato,a quien visita semanalmente los jueves en la prisión de Sing-Sing. -Entre sus amigos se encuentra O. J Berman, un agente hollywoodense cuyo propósito es llevar a Holly a la fama, convirtiéndola en actriz. -Holly, aparentemente mantiene una relación con Mag Wildwood,una de sus invitadas en la fiesta y por quien confiesa tener un fastidio muy oculto. Esto puede evidenciarse una vez que se queda con ella luego de que Mag se emborrache en una fiesta dada por Holly. -Holly no es en realidad quien dice ser. Su verdadera identidad es la de una campesina ladrona llamada LulaMae Barnes. Tomó el apellido Golightly luego de contraer matrimonio con Doc Golightly, un hombre de campo quien la encontró junto a Fred, robando huevos de su granja. -En cierto punto del libro,Doc va por su "LulaMae", y la encuentra totalmente cambiada.
