The outfit responded by releasing "Who’s in the House?" featuring British emcee Merlin, containing the dis "Watch Out, Tyree—we come faster, this is the sound of the true Beatmasters". More claims to the hip-house crown were subsequently laid down in tracks by Fast Eddie, Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock, and Toni Scott. In reality, the earliest hip house track is "Holiday Rap" by MC Miker G & DJ Sven, as it marks the first time in history of hip-hop when rapped lyrics were used in a pro-house composition (today Madonna's "Holiday" is considered to be the earliest deviation of pop music into house).

Poco dopo anche Chicago, considerata la patria americana della house music, iniziò a produrre musica di questo tipo, che poi si spostò anche in Europa trovando terreno fertile nel New beat belga e nella house italiana, tra la fine degli anni 1980 e l'inizio degli anni 1990. Questa tendenza musicale ha influenzato anche l'ambiente eurodance dei primi anni 90,ne sono un esempio artisti come gli "Snap" o "BG The Prince Of Rap". Attualmente è in continuo aumento, grazie ad artisti come Pitbull, o rapper che mischiano le moderne sonorità da discoteca; in italia per ora, i maggiori esponenti sono i Two Fingerz, hanno composto negli ultimi album diversi brani di questo genere, e ad essi altri artisti hip hop stanno producendo diversi brani.
