Two classroom buildings Kendall and Lane Halls were completed in December 2005 and construction of the Grewcock Student Union on the site formerly occupied by the Carr Library was completed in January 2008. In 2008 the new Mossey Library was dedicated containing over 500000 volumes 11000 periodicals and a large collection of digital and audio-visual materials. They also possess the complete archives of the late William F. Buckley Jr. founder of National Review. An extension of the campus is the pristine 685 acre G.H. Gordon Biological Station in northern Michigan. In 2009 a modern retreat center was opened nearby with special design to avoid human impact on this biological zone. Hillsdale's student body consists of 1300 students with slightly more females enrolled than males. The college currently has more than 100 full-time faculty members and offers a variety of liberal arts majors pre-professional programs a teacher education program and a journalism certificate program. In Fall 2009 they will begin their first graduate program leading to a degree of Master of Arts in Statesmanship. This will be taught primarily through their newly established Washington D.C. teaching center located near the U.S. Capital Building. Other off-campus study programs are the Washington Journalism Internship at the National Journalism Center in Washington D.C. ; the James C. Quayle Journalism Intern Program; Hillsdale College Professional Sales Intern Program; Hillsdale in Seville Spain at the Center for Cross-Cultural Study; the Hillsdale/Oxford Scholars Program; Hillsdale College/Universität des Saarlandes at Saarbrücken Germany; Hillsdale College Intensive Language Summer School in Tours France; Hillsdale College Intensive Language & Culture Summer Program in Würzburg Germany; Hillsdale College at Regent's College London; Hillsdale College at the University of St. Andrews at St. Andrews Scotland; and the renowned Washington-Hillsdale Internship Program (WHIP) where students reside one semester in Washington D.C. studying Political Science by working 35–40 hours per week in government or private sector positions and take two classroom courses in either American Politics or Public Policy and either Contemporary American Foreign Policy or National Security for a total of 15 semester credits.
