  • The Hertie School of Governance (HSoG) is the leading Public Policy school in Germany, and one of the leading policy institutes in Europe, located in the heart of Berlin, in the historic Quartier 110 in Friedrichstraße. As an international professional school, the HSoG is composed of over 50 percent international students, and the working language for students and faculty is English. HSoG’s memberships in key political science and policy analysis associations. These include the European Consortium on Political Science Research (ECPR), the American Political Science Association (APSA), and the Association of Professional School of International Affairs (APSIA), PolicyNet, and the Global Public Policy Network (GPPN). Furthermore, the HSoG is embedded in the German academic arena through cooperation agreements with the renowned Social Science Research Center (WZB), German Institute for Economic Research (DIW), Freie Universität (FU) and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU). Notable are the separate cooperation agreements with the Graduate School of North American Studies at the FU and the Berlin Graduate School of Social Sciences at the HU, both of whom were selected by the excellence initiative of the German Federal and State Governments. In addition to offering exchange and dual degree graduate programs, the Hertie School offers its students the opportunity to complete a "professional year" at a ministry, government agency, or international organization.
