The Hermes House Band is a Dutch party band established in 1984 by members of the Hermes student society in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. From the band's establishment onward, a member of the band that finishes his/her studies has to leave the band immediately. Currently the band has about 75 former members. The Hermes House Band has now released more than 25 albums and singles.

  • De Hermes House Band (HHB) is de voor 1979 opgerichte huisband van studentensociëteit Hermes in Rotterdam. In 1994 werd de groep bekend in onder meer Nederland en België met hun cover van de hit I will Survive van Gloria Gaynor uit '79. Wereldwijd zijn van de single meer dan 2,5 miljoen exemplaren verkocht. Vanaf het begin geldt voor de Hermes House Band dat een bandlid moet opstappen zodra hij zijn studie beëindigd heeft. Inmiddels telt de Hermes House Band ongeveer 75 ex-leden, die verenigd zijn in de Vereniging Paradepoppenman. Als de single I will survive in 1998 een grote hit scoort in Duitsland, wordt oud-zangeres Judith Ansems gevraagd het nummer in Duitsland te promoten. De band krijgt een lokaal contract bij platenmaatschappij Polydor, en naast Judith worden oud-zangers Jop Wijlacker en Robin Maas gevraagd om gezamenlijk een nieuwe plaat op te nemen in Duitsland. Vanaf dat moment bestaan er 2 HHB's; de lokale studentenband en de internationale variant die overigens uitsluitend in het buitenland optreedt. Verschillende singles worden ook in Nederland uitgebracht, waaronder Country Roads (nr. 27) en Que Sera. In 2003 scoort men samen met DJ Ötzi wederom een nummer 2 hit in Frankrijk met een cover van het nummer Live is Life van de band Opus. Het refrein van het nummer I will survive wordt ook door Feyenoord Rotterdam en het Duitse Bayern Munchen als scoring tune gebruikt. De professionele afdeling van de Hermes House Band heeft inmiddels 13 keer in de officiële top 100 van Duitsland gestaan en behaalde daarnaast hitnoteringen in o.a. Engeland, Ierland, Frankrijk, Spanje, Noorwegen Mexico, Australie, Zuid Afrika en Argentinie. De HHB heeft in haar meer dan 25-jarig bestaan meer dan 25 albums en singles uitgebracht. Het meest recente nieuwe werk van de internationale band is uitgebracht op het album Rhythm of the Nineties uit 2009.
