- Helen Olajumoke Oyeyemi (born December 10, 1984) is a British novelist. She was born in Nigeria and moved to London when she was four. She wrote her first novel, The Icarus Girl, while still at school studying for her A levels. After sending the first 20 pages to a publisher, she was offered two-book deal worth a rumoured £400,000. Oyeyemi studied Social and Political Sciences at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, graduating in 2006. Whilst at Cambridge, two of her plays, Juniper's Whitening and Victimese, were performed by fellow students to critical acclaim and subsequently published by Methuen. Oyeyemi went on to do an MFA in Creative Writing in Columbia University, though she dropped out due to finding the programme restrictive. In 2007 Bloomsbury published her second novel, The Opposite House which is inspired by Cuban mythology. Oyeyemi is a lifelong Catholic who has done voluntary work for CAFOD in Kenya . In 2009 Oyeyemi was recognized as one of the women on Venus Zine’s “25 under 25” list. Her third novel, White is for Witching, described as having "roots in Henry James and Edgar Allan Poe" will be published by Picador in May 2009. She lives in London but currently resides in New York.

Pisarka spotkała się z czytelnikami w Lublinie, Warszawie, Toruniu i Łodzi, promując w ten sposób powieść "Mała Ikar", wydaną w Polsce w kwietniu 2007 roku.
