Harold Hart Crane was an American poet. Finding both inspiration and provocation in the poetry of T. S. Eliot, Crane wrote poetry that was traditional in form, difficult and often archaic in language, and which sought to express something more than the ironic despair that Crane found in Eliot's poetry. Though frequently condemned as being difficult beyond comprehension, Crane has proved in the long run to be one of the most influential poets in English language of his generation.

W wieku 17 lat uciekł z domu by poświęcić się pisaniu wierszy. Trafił do Nowego Jorku gdzie imał się dorywczych zajęć a także nawiązał kontakt z grupą awangardowych pisarzy skupionych wokół „The Little Review”. W 1926 roku został wydany jego debiutancki tomik poezji „White Buildings” („Białe Budynki&rdquo). W roku 1931 otrzymał stypendium na wyjazd do Meksyku. W drodze powrotnej popełnił samobójstwo.

- Hart Crane (egentligen Harold Crane) född 21 juli 1899 i Garretsville, död 27 april 1932 utanför Mexiko, var en amerikansk författare. Crane kom till New York som 17-åring. 1926 kom hans debut, diktsamlingen White buildings.
