Prior to that he was a news anchor on ABC's World News Now, serving as lead co-anchor from August 2006 to February 2007. He was born in Bombay, India, but attended high school in Seattle, Washington, where he became a radio disc jockey.

He later moved to San Francisco, California, to work for CNET, covering the high tech sector. In 2004, Sreenivasan left CNET to join ABC News in New York City. Along with ABC correspondent Jake Tapper, Sreenivasan also co-hosted the behind-the-scenes podcast ABC News Shuffle. His last episode was on February 9 2007.
