In the 1920s, Harbin was considered to be the fashion capital of China as new designs from Paris and Moscow reached here first before arriving in Shanghai.

Умови для життя покращали від часу, коли японці 1931 організували буферну державу — Манджу-Го, і знову скупчилося в Українському Народному Домі в Харбіні 1935 постала Українська Національна Колонія як центр для всіх українців у Манджурії. У 1932 — 37 pp. виходив «Манджурський Вісник» (редактор І. Світ), з 1934 українці мали свої радіопередачі. Після окупації Манджурії 1945 радянськими військами більшість українців була заарештована й вивезена, а українські установи ліквідовані. Кількість українців у 1930 — 40-их pp. можна визначити на бл. 15 000.

  • Harbin; is a sub-provincial city and the capital of the Heilongjiang Province in Northeast China. It lies on the southern bank of the Songhua River. Harbin is ranked as the tenth largest city in China, serving as a key political, economic, scientific, cultural and communications center of Northeastern China. Harbin is originally a Manchu word meaning "a place for drying fishing nets".
