The Halmahera Sea languages are the branch of Austronesian languages found along the shores of the Halmahera Sea, from the southeast coast of the island of Halmahera in the Indonesian province of North Maluku, to the Raja Ampat Islands off the western tip of New Guinea. The unity of the languages is fully supported by a 2008 analysis of the Austronesian Basic Vocabulary Database Previously, the Raja Ampat languages had been included in the West New Guinea family.
