Simon grew up in the village of Chobham, Surrey. While attending the nearby Woodcote school he played keyboards in his first band, "the Electric Light Failure". Later as a teenager he experimented extensively with home recording, first on a 4 track portastudio and later with a Tascam MSR-16 16 track recorder. He is also the co-founder of Twisted Records with Simon Holtom (previously manager of Youth's Dragonfly label), which is one of the most influential psychedelic trance record labels. A track by Hallucinogen, called "Bubble n' Tweak", is featured in the Gran Turismo 4 video game. In 2002, In Dub was released, a collection of Ott dub remixes of Hallucinogen tracks. In recent years, Posford has fostered a close relationship with jamtronica band, The Disco Biscuits, making appearances at Camp Biscos 5, 6 and 7 as well as producing tracks on The Biscuits' forthcoming album due out in 2009.
