The secondary star (designated as HD 178911 B) has an apparent magnitude of 6.74 and a spectral type of G1V, which is very similar to our Sun at a distance of 160 light years. The age of the star is slightly older and have significantly higher metallicity than our Sun. As it is typical for few metal-rich Sun-like stars, it has at least one planet in orbit around this secondary star.

Weiterhin befindet sich in diesem System auch ein zweiter Stern mit dem Namen HD 178911 A, der von HD 178911 B in einem Abstand von 640 Astronomischen Einheiten umkreist wird. Dies macht dieses System zu einem Doppelstern.
