Gyachrypsh is a urban-type settlement in Abkhazia. Formerly named Yermolovka and then Leselidze, the village is located on the shores of the Black Sea and is 14 kilometers from the city of Gagra. It is a station on the Abkhazian railroad. In ancient times, early Abkhazians settled on the site of Gyachrypsh. In the 7th century, Abkhazian Prince Gech owned the land, and from that time Gyachrypsh held the name of Gechripsh. The names Gechkuaj and Gechiler were also in use at that time.

After the War, the village developed into a resort. In Leselidze, the new name of the city, normal resort village features developed. In 1975, a statue of K. N. Leselidze was installed. In 1992, the settlement was renamed Gyachrypsh.

In der Zeit der Sowjetunion, 1944, erhielt der Ort den Namen Lesselidse – nach einem General des Großen Vaterländischen Krieges. 1992 erhielt der Ort den alten Namen zurück, den er bis zum 19. Jahrhundert trug, als er während der Zarenzeit schon einmal in Jermolowka umbenannt wurde. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde Lesselidse zu einem Kurort entwickelt und erhielt u. a. ein Kindersanatorium und ein Sportzentrum. 1992 war Gatschrypsch (noch unter dem Namen Lesselidse) in militärische Auseinandersetzungen (Schlacht von Gagra) und in die ethnischen Unruhen einbezogen, bei denen georgische Einwohner von abchasischen Milizen ermordet und verstümmelt wurden.

В конце XIX века посёлок становится дачным и называется Ермоловка. В 1944 году посёлок получил имя героя Великой Отечественной войны генерала К.  Н.  Леселидзе. После войны посёлок был благоустроен и развивался как курортный. В Леселидзе появились детский санаторий, дом отдыха, спортивная база. В 1975 году открыт памятник К.  Н.  Леселидзе. В 1992 году восстановлено историческое название Гечрипш. Работают пансионаты «Геч» и «Лагуна».
