In addition, Garvey had a monthly column in the now defunct Manchester edition of Time Out magazine and is a patron of MAG (the Mines Advisory Group), the Manchester based charity responsible for clearing war zones of mines and munitions world wide. Amongst other work Garvey also produced and recorded the I Am Kloot album Natural History and is currently writing with Massive Attack. As of January 2009, he and Elbow keyboard player Craig Potter are producing I Am Kloot's upcoming album. As well as vocal duties Garvey has also played a wide variety of instruments live including guitar, various forms of percussion and most recently drums.
