Gurgaon ist eine Stadt in Indien. Sie ist ein "Vorort" der Stadt Delhi und geht auch direkt in diese über. Gurgaon hat in den letzten Jahren immer mehr an Bedeutung gewonnen. So zogen viele überwiegend wohlhabende Inder nach Gurgaon, da sie dort die Nähe zur Großstadt Delhi sowie eine relativ gepflegte, sichere und teils grüne Umgebung vorfanden. Mit der Zeit wuchs Gurgaon allerdings so extrem, dass es mittlerweile nur noch einen kleinen öffentlichen Park sowie die einzelnen Grünanlagen der Wohnkomplexe vorzuweisen hat. An die Stelle der früheren Parks sind nun neue moderne und westlich orientierte Hochhäuser getreten, die von dem reichen Teil der Bevölkerung bewohnt wird. Der große Anteil an Wohlhabenden führte außerdem dazu, dass sich in Gurgaon über 20 große Malls nach amerikanischem Vorbild angesiedelt haben, in denen vor allem die reiche indische Jugend ihre Freizeit in Restaurants westlicher Fastfood-Ketten, mit Shoppen amerikanischer Mode und dem Schauen von Hollywood-Filmen verbringt. Die schulische Versorgung hat sich jedoch auch zum Positiven verändert, sodass sich dort mehrere Privatschulen angesiedelt haben. Aufgrund dieser Entwicklungen wächst Gurgaon zu einer neuen Bildungs- und Komforthauptstadt Indiens und wird unter den Einwohnern schon neues Delhi genannt. Im Jahre 2010 fanden in Delhi die Commonwealth Games statt. Für diese wurde nicht nur in Delhis Regierungsviertel sehr viel Geld investiert, sondern auch in Gurgaons Infrastruktur. So wurde mittlerweile eine neue Hochbahn fertiggestellt, die Gurgaon mit ganz Delhi verbindet und Gurgaons Straßen wurden ausgebaut.
