Guerrilla communication and communication guerrilla refer to unconventional forms of communication and/or intervention in public events or discourse, for reasons ranging from political activism to marketing. One form of guerrilla communication is the creation of ritual via participative public spectacle to disrupt or protest a public event or to shift the perspectives of passers-by. Such spectacles often take the form of street and guerrilla theater.

Man kann die Kommunikationsguerilla auch als eine künstlerische Strategie zur Subversion von Kommunikationsstrukturen oder eine kulturelle Instandbesetzung beschreiben. Se trata de una particular forma de acción política que busca visibilizar lo que ellos consideran las paradojas y los absurdos de las sociedades capitalistas contemporáneas. La guerrilla de la comunicación se vale de la manipulación de representaciones, signos o identidades, así como de lo que han dado a llamar "distanciamiento" y "sobreidentificación". En gran parte retoma aportes de crítica cultural radical del situacionismo, entre otros. Así pues actualiza las técnicas del detournement o la creación de situaciones y el happening. Comunicólogos, semiólogos y críticos literarios, como Umberto Eco o Roland Barthes han desarrollado importantes aportes teóricos.
