- Guapa es el nombre del cuarto álbum de estudio de La Oreja de Van Gogh, publicado el 25 de abril de 2006. Éste es el último disco de la banda con Amaia, ya que al año siguiente de ser lanzado, la vocalista anunció su partida del grupo. Los singles extraídos de este disco fueron "Muñeca de trapo", "Dulce locura" y "Perdida". El discomo comenzó a componerse en febrero de 2005, en Noviembre del mismo año ya estaban maquetados los 18 temas que probablemente ingresarían en el álbum. Fue grabado en Francia en los Estudios Du Manoir en diciembre de 2005, de 2 al 23 de aquel mes. En enero de 2006 reiniciaron las grabaciones en el estudio PKO de Madrid, y durante toda la grabación estuvieron presentes reporteros de la cadena Cuatro que más tarde lanzaría una reportaje sobre lo que fue la grabación de Guapa. A pesar de la negativa del grupo de que el CD incluyese un DVD, esto se dio e incluyo imágenes del documental de Cuatro así como comentarios sobre cada canción. Está producido por Nigel Walker y su publicación coincide con el décimo aniversario de la creación del grupo. Contiene trece canciones que mezclan el pop característico de la banda con reggae, ranchera, apuntes de bossa nova, gotas de los 60 y los 70, algún arreglo techno y recuerdos a la música americana. En este disco se puede notar la madurez artística del grupo tanto en sus letras y melodías en canciones como "Noche", "Muñeca de Trapo" "Perdida". Así como sonidos más electrónicos en los arreglos de las canciones. Fue el disco más esperado de 2006, originalmente el lanzamiento estaba preparado para marzo 28 de 2006, sin embargo fallas en una máquina de Du Manoir hizo que el lanzamiento se retrasara hasta el 25 de abril de 2006, inclusive cuando se dio un adelanto con "Muñeca de trapo" en Los 40, ésta rompió récords de audiencia. Dos días antes de su lanzamiento oficial, la empresa de telefonía Movistar, ofrecía un teléfono Sony Ericsoon precargado con los 13 temàs del álbum así como el videoclip de Muñeca de Trapo y tres videos del Concierto Gira 2003. Esto produjo que para la fecha de lanzamiento oficial, el disco ya se encontraba pirateado. A pesar de las filtraciones, para diciembre de 2006 el disco ya tenía siete discos de platino en su haber, haciendo que este fuera el disco más vendido en España en aquel año. El disco gano el Grammy Latino en 2006 por mejor álbum pop duo grupo. En 2007 se grabaron dos versiones en italiano de temas de álbum "Dolce Follia" y "Bambola Di Pezza", el disco se editó en Italia el 18 de mayo de 2007, el disco no tuvo promoción por la inesperada salida de Amaia Montero del grupo, lo que llevo al álbum al fracaso. Las maquetas y canciones inéditas del disco fueron publicadas en la reedición de Guapa. Nada más salir el disco al mercado, el quinteto donostiarra comenzó su promoción por América tanto América del Norte como el cono sur, recalando en casi todos los países de habla hispana, así como dando un número considerable de recitales en Estados Unidos. Las citas más importantes de,este comienzo de gira fueron en el Auditorio Nacional de México DF, (México), país especialmente visitado en esta gira, Luna Park (3 conciertos, Buenos Aires, Argentina) y la que hasta este año 2009 ha sido la cita más multtudinaria de La Oreja, en el Estadio San Carlos de Apoquindo (Santiago, Chile). Esta promoción tan potente en América hizo que Guapa alcanzara en el continente unas cifras de ventas muy elevadas, siendo de alrededor de un millón de copias, 250.000 de ellas presumiblemente en EEUU, cosechando grandes cifras también en México y Argentina y abriéndose paso en el resto de países de centro y sudamérica donde antes no habían recalado tanto. Este gran éxito en América junto con las ventas de España que superaron los 560.000 discos hacen de Guapa/Más guapa el tercer disco más vendido de la historia de La Oreja con unas cifras aproximadas de 1.500.000 copias despachadas. Al término de la etapa Guapa la oreja llevaba más de 6.000.000 de discos vendidos en todo el mundo así como 51 discos de platino, 26 en españa y 25 en América. El disco permaneció más de 30 semanas en el Top 10 de los discos más vendidos en España, de las cuales 10 semanas -no consecutivas- fueron en el #1, en total resistió más de 75 semanas en la lista y la gran mayoría dentro de los 50 primeros.

On December 5, 2006, Más guapa was released exclusively in Spain and Mexico. Two months later, on February 13, 2007, it was also released in Chile. The album includes a second disc of previously un-released material from the Guapa sessions, as well as from recording sessions of previous albums. The album won a Latin Grammy Award for Best Pop Album By a Duo or Group. Guapa is the band's last album with Amaia Montero as lead singer. The album's composition began on February, 2005. On November of that year, there were already 18 tracks that would probably be in the final album. It was recorded in France, in Du Manoir on December, 2005, from the second to the 23rd of that month. On January, 2006, they began re-recording in Madrid and reporters from TV channel Cuatro were present throughout to later publish a report regarding the album. Regardless of the group's desire that a report not be made, a DVD was included in certain versions of Guapa. The album was produced with Nigel Walker and its publication coincides with the 10th anniversary of the group's existence. Guapa contains thirteen songs that mix the band's typical pop with reggae, ranchera, a bit of bossa nova, some sounds from the 60's and 70's, a few techno arrangements and recollections of American music. Originally, its premiere was prepared for March 28, 2006; however, technical problems with a machine in Du Manoir made the premiere be on April 25, 2006. When Muñeca de Trapo was released as a first single in Los 40, it was quite a success. Two days before its official premiere, the telephone company Movistar offered a phone Sony Ericsoon with the 13 tracks from the album and the video of the first single already in it. This caused the album to already be pirated before its official premiere. Regardless of the information above, by December 2006, the album already had seven Platinum CD, making it one of the most old albums in Spain during that year. The album won the Latin Grammy of 2006 as best pop album by a group or duo. In 2007 versions in Italian of Dulce Locura (Sweet Insanity) and Muñeca de Trapo were recorded. This great success in America along with the sales in Spain which went beyond 560,000 make Guapa the third most sold album in the history of La oreja de Van Gogh, without about 1,500,000 copies sold. By the end of the stage of Guapa, the band had over 6,000,000 CD's sold in total all around the world. The album remained for over 30 weeks in the Top 10 CD's sold in Spain, 10 of which, although not consecutive, made it #1.
