The Grunewaldturm is a historical tower in Berlin built by the plans of Franz Schwechten between 1897 and 1898. The municipality of Teltow assigned the building order on the occasion of the 100th birthday of the German Emperor Wilhelm I. On June 5, 1899 the landmark building was opened as the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Turm (emperor Wilhelm tower). After World War II it was renamed to Grunewaldturm according to the surrounding forest called Grunewald.
