- This article refers to the Discworld character. For the UK subculture term the character is named after, see Grebo Greebo is a fictional character in Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. He is first introduced in Wyrd Sisters. He is a foul-tempered one-eyed grey tomcat whose owner, Nanny Ogg, insists against all the evidence that he is a sweet, harmless kitten. In the course of the books, he has killed two vampires, eating at least one of them in the novel Witches Abroad: "The bat squirmed under his claw. It seemed to Greebo's small cat brain that it was trying to change its shape, and he wasn't having any of that from a mouse with wings on. " And in Maskerade, Magrat recalls when Greebo once killed an elk. In Lords and Ladies, Greebo's overall attitude is best described in an allusion to Schrödinger's cat: Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious. Shawn dived sideways as Greebo went off like a Claymore mine. "Don't worry about him," said Magrat dreamily, as the elf flailed at the maddened cat. "He's just a big softy. " In Witches Abroad he was transformed, for reasons that seemed to be a good idea at the time, into a human. He was confused by the differences between human and cat morphology and social relationships, but picked some aspects up quickly. In this incarnation, the character is reminiscent of Red Dwarf's Cat; he looks like a 'beautiful, brainless bully' who has raided a leather goods store for the discerning pirate, and appears ready to unbuckle any amount of swash, radiating an aura of raw sex that can be felt several rooms away, and of a megawatt magnitude. He is typically covered in scars, has retractable nails (or more accurately, claws) and maintains a slitted left eye. The incident left him with an unstable phenotype, that is, a tendency to temporarily switch forms when completely cornered, which causes some excitement. In Maskerade he once more took longer-term human shape, attending the Ankh-Morpork Opera in the guise of the Le Comte de Gribeau. In a passing reference in Witches Abroad Nanny Ogg said that Greebo was a demon ("Just between you and me, he's a fiend from hell"), possibly indicating that Greebo is indeed demonic, partially due to Nanny's insistence otherwise that Greebo is a gentle kitten. It is mentioned in Wyrd Sisters that, in addition to his other qualities, he is pursuing a study in inbreeding with all of the other cats in Lancre that are related to him (which by dint of some effort is all of them, as he is currently every male ancestor for at least 30 generations), which may be involved in the "raw sex" aura he possesses mentioned above. The same book mentions that he has also seriously surprised a she-bear and chased a female wolf up a tree. To date, Greebo is known to fear only three things: the Nac Mac Feegle;. the black cockerel Legba, who belongs to the voodoo witch Mrs Gogol (although this is more of a mutual respect—as the familiars of powerful witches, neither one is going to admit being scared of the other despite Greebo's claws and teeth and Legba's razor-sharp spurs; . You, a small white kitten owned by Granny Weatherwax. Their first encounter ended with You burying her claws in Greebo's face and his subsequent retreat. He now hides behind the pots and pans whenever she is in the same house as him; . In Terry Pratchett's Johnny Maxwell series, Mrs Tachyon owns a cat named Guilty who has many qualities similar to Greebo.

Greebo es un gato enorme de color gris con la piel surcada por innumerables cicatrices producto de mil batallas callejeras contra otros gatos y animales de todo tipo, como consecuencia de las cuales le falta un ojo. Es el terror de la fauna de los alrededores, hasta los lobos procuran evitarle y en una ocasión incluso llego a acorralar a un oso. Con respecto a los humanos Greebo mantiene una relación amor/odio, Tata le ama, el resto de la humanidad le odia. La otra afición de Greebo, aparte de pelear, es cortejar, aunque violar seria una definición más adecuada, a todas las gatas de las proximidades. Greebo es el padre o abuelo y en muchas ocasiones las dos cosas a la vez, de la mayoría de los gatos de los alrededores. Mandón es un personaje secundario pero importante en las novelas en que aparece Tata Ogg. Suele acompañar a Tata en sus viajes y ha sacado a las brujas de más de un apuro, cuando no lo ha creado él mismo. En una de estas ocasiones fue convertido por las brujas en humano y desde entonces aprendió el truco y ahora se puede convertir en humano cuando lo desea, con el consiguiente susto para quienes estén presentes. Cuando se transforma en humano, se convierte en un hombre negro, alto, tuerto y muy atlético, cuyas uñas funcionan como las de un gato y al parecer, extraordinariamente dotado. Posee un aura de sexualidad tal, que es capaz de cometer acoso sexual simplemente sentándose en la habitación contigua. Como no controla bien la transformación en humano, se transforma cuando está muy nervioso o le persiguen, dando lugar a situaciones bastante divertidas y un tanto comprometidas. En resumen, Greebo es un enorme, feo, apestoso y malvado gato gris al que Tata, contra toda evidencia física, sigue viendo como el gatito que una vez fue.
- Gredin est un personnage des Annales du Disque-monde, de Terry Pratchett. Il est le chat de la sorcière Nounou Ogg, un British Blue qui apparaît pour la première fois dans Trois Sœurcières. C'est un gros matou borgne et malveillant, recouvert de tissu cicatriciel, avec des oreilles déchiquetées à force de se battre et une odeur "capable de mettre à mal les sinus d'un renard crevé". En dépit de toute vraisemblance, Nounou Ogg continue de clamer qu'il est un pauvre chaton sans défense, alors qu'il cherche à manger, tuer ou violer toutes les créatures qu'il rencontre, allant jusqu'à terroriser les loups et les ours. Gredin élimine notamment un vampire dans Nobliaux et sorcières ainsi que dans "mécomptes de fées" puis dans Carpe Jugulum. Considérant le Disque entier comme son territoire, Gredin est l'ascendant de la plupart des chats du royaume de Lancre. Dans Mécomptes de fées Gredin est, pour des raisons qui semblaient à l'origine bonnes, momentanément changé en être humain(en l'occurence un homme d'un bon mètre quatre-vingt dix, musclé, borgne également et vêtu de cuir; cette métamorphose explique à sa maîtresse pourquoi "toutes les chattes du quartier miaulaient"). Il en résulte une instabilité constante de son champ morphologique, le portant instinctivement à se retransformer dès lors qu'il se retrouverait dans une situation qu'un chat ne saurait dépêtrer lui-même (notamment lorsqu'il est surpris égorgeant un poulet voisin ou bloqué avec une cuisinière en colère). Les seuls créatures à pouvoir effrayer Gredin sont : Les Nac Mac Feegle dans Carpe Jugulum Legba, le coq noir de Madame Gogol Le chaton blanc de Mémé Ciredutemps qui lui planta ses griffes sur le museau lors de leur première rencontre. Gredin sévit dans les tomes Trois Sœursières, Mécomptes de fées, Nobliaux et sorcières, Masquarade, Carpe Jugulum et Les Ch'tits Hommes libres.

Greebo nie zwykł ustępować pola żadnemu stworzeniu, zapędził na drzewo nawet niedźwiedzicę, a w Wyprawie czarownic dał radę i wampirowi (mysz, nawet ze skrzydłami, nie jest tym, co powinno pojawiać się w pobliżu kota). W tej samej powieści Babcia Weatherwax i Niania Ogg, przymuszone okolicznościami, dają mu na jakiś czas ludzką postać, co pozwala zrozumieć, dlaczego kotki krzyczą po nocach – jednooki, zawadiacki pirat jest bardzo sexy. W "Maskaradzie" ponownie na krótki czas zostaje przemieniony w człowieka. Jedyne stworzenia, których boi się Greebo to gnomy z klanu Nac mac Feegle (Carpe Jugulum, Kapelusz Pełen Nieba) oraz biała kotka babci Wheatherwax. W Panach i damach Greebo posłużył Terry'emu Pratchettowi do rozszerzenia paradoksu kota Schrödingera – kot zamknięty w pudełku może być żywy, martwy albo bardzo wściekły.
