Insbesondere mit 10cc hatte Gouldman zahlreiche Hits in den 70er-Jahren. Zu den bekanntesten Songs, die er als Komponist für andere Musiker geschrieben hat, zählen For Your Love für die Yardbirds, Bus Stop für die Hollies und No Milk Today für Herman’s Hermits. In den 80er-Jahren war Gouldman Mitglied des Pop-Duos Wax.
