Gil Shwed is an Israeli programmer and entrepreneur. He is the founder, CEO and chairman of board of Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. In 1993, Gil Shwed invented and patented stateful inspection, which is widely used in network firewalls today. After serving in the army he with two Check Point co-founders used his experience in the Israel Defense Forces's Unit 8200 to write the first version of FireWall-1 which was released in 1994.
