Georgios Hatzianestis was a Greek General. He was born in Athens. From May 1922 to the end of the war that September, he was Commander-in-Chief of Greek armies during the Greco-Turkish War. Following the Trial of the Six, Hatzianestis was executed for high treason along with five politicians in 1922 as responsible for the defeat of Greece in that war.

Yerine General Nikolaos Trikupis getirildi. Ancak iletişim yetersizliği nedeniyle bu atama kararı General Trikopis'e ulaşamamış ve Halit Bey (Akmansü) komutasındaki 4. Kafkas Fırkasına esir düştükten sonra bu atamadan haberi olmuştur. Altılı mahkeme'de yargılandıktan sonra 28 Kasım 1922'de aralarında Hatzianestis, Başbakan Dimitrios Gounaris, Georgios Baltatzis, Nikolaos Stratos, Nikolaos Theotokis, Petros Protopapadakis başta olmak üzere altı kişi Anadolu'daki yenilgiler (Μικρασιατική καταστροφή / Mikra Asia Katastroft) nedeniyle idama mahkûm edildi. Afyon tahkimatını denetlemesi sırasında Albay Plastiras'ı azarlayarak askerlerin önünde küçük düşürmesinin bir intikamı olarak Albay Palstiras'ın emriyle aşağılanma şekli olan sandalyeye ters oturturlarak sırtından vurularak idam edilmiştir.
