George Ward Hunt (30 July 1825 – 29 July 1877) was a British Conservative Party politician and statesman, Chancellor of the Exchequer and First Lord of the Admiralty in 1st and 2nd ministries of Benjamin Disraeli.

George Ward Hunt studierte in Oxford, wurde 1851 Barrister sowie, nachdem er sich verschiedene Male vergeblich um einen Parlamentssitz beworben hatte, 1857 Mitglied des Unterhauses für Northampton. Er schloss sich der konservativen Partei an, zeichnete sich durch Fleiß und Eifer aus und machte sich namentlich durch die Energie bemerklich, mit der er ein den ländlichen Interessen günstiges Viehseuchegesetz gegen den Regierungsentwurf durchbrachte. Er wurde 1866 Sekretär des Schatzamtes unter Lord Derby und stieg im Februar 1868 zum Kanzler des Schatzamtes (Finanzminister) auf, welches Amt er aber beim Rücktritt des konservativen Kabinetts im Dezember desselben Jahres niederlegte. Im Kabinett Disraeli übernahm er im Februar 1874 den Posten des ersten Lords der Admiralität, machte sich aber durch einen die energische Verfolgung des Sklavenhandels verhindernden Erlass sehr unpopulär.

Pod koniec tego roku został wybrany do Izby Gmin jako reprezentant okręgu North Northamptonshire. W latach 1866-1868 był finansowym sekretarzem skarbu. W krótko istnięjącym pierwszym rządzie Disraeliego był Kanclerzem Skarbu. Po powrocie konserwatystów do władzy w 1874 r. został pierwszym lordem Admiralicji. Zmarł podczas sprawowania urzędu w 1877 r.
