George C. Gibson, nicknamed Mooney, was a Canadian baseball player (catcher) who caught for two different Major League teams, starting in 1905 with the Pittsburgh Pirates and ending his playing career with the New York Giants in 1918. In the 1920s and 1930s he served as manager for Pittsburgh and for the Chicago Cubs. Before that, however, Gibson started his managerial career with the Toronto Maple Leafs, a AAA Class team in the International League.
