In the 1991 episode "First Contact", he plays Chancellor Durkin, the ruler of an alien planet with whom the Federation is attempting to establish relations. In 1970 he originated the role of David in the original broadway cast of Stephen Sondheim's Company. Coe was born in Jamaica, Queens, New York City.
