- Gary Green is a British musician. During the 1970s, he was the guitarist for the progressive rock band Gentle Giant. Green was with the band from the debut album Gentle Giant all the way to the last album Civilian. Green's style was different from most of his peers, being a more "blues" based guitarist. Like his other band members, Green was also adept at other instruments, including mandolin and recorder among others. Later on, he was a member of the band Mother Tongue, and also recorded on the Zinc album with Eddie Jobson. In recent years, Green has been working with Billy Sherwood on a number of projects, including Back Against The Wall (2005) and Return to the Dark Side of the Moon (2006). Green currently lives in the Chicago area in an old Victorian home with his wife Judy and a large collection of animals that have been rescued and now receive much love. Gary Green's brother, Jeff Green, was a roadie for Soft Machine in the early 1970s and later played with Elton Dean. Green and John Weathers are the only ex-members of Gentle Giant still actively playing and recording.

Später spielte er in einer Power-Pop-Band namens The Elvis Brothers, deren Stil aber keinesfalls dem von Gentle Giant ähnelte. Im September 1995 reiste er mit der Band Divae zum Marechiaro Blues Festival. Dort spielten sie die Gentle Giant-Stücke The Boys in the band und The Return of The Giant . Billy Sherwood, der nach dem Ausstieg seines Partners, des Yes-Bassisten Chris Squire das von beiden ins Leben gerufene Projekt Conspiracy alleine weiterführt, hat Anfang 2007 Gary Green als Gastmusiker für ein neues Conspiracy-Album ins Boot geholt. Heute lebt Green etwas abseits von Chicago in Illinois in den USA.

Em Março de 1969, respondendo a um anúncio da revista Melody Maker, Gary torna-se membro do Gentle Giant, superando cerca de 50 concorrentes (Derek Shulman, principal vocalista da banda, afirmou que Gary foi o único dos entrevistados a afinar sua guitarra antes da audiência com o grupo). Assim como os demais membros do Gentle Giant, Gary também era adepto de outros instrumentos musicais, como tamborim, violão de 6 e 12 cordas, bandolim, flauta doce e contrabaixo elétrico. Gary permaneceu na banda desde o primeiro álbum, lançado em 1970, até o último. Após o fim do grupo, Green participou de alguns projetos, como as bandas Blind Dates, The Elvis brothers, Big Hello, Mother Tongue; nesse período ele também tocou no álbum Green, de Eddie Jobson. Mais recentemente, em 2005, participou da gravação do álbum Back Against the Wall, um disco tributo ao LP lançado pelo Pink Floyd, em 1979. Gary, além de John Weathers e Kerry Minnear, também já participou de edições do GORGG (Global On Reflection Giant Gathering, uma convenção anual de fãs da banda).
