As well as Midi trains, the station accepted trains from the PO and Etat. The station was built by M Toudoire and S Choron. The station building, situated in Bordeaux city centre at the end of the Cours de la Marne, appears from the front as three parts.

  • Bordeaux-Saint-Jean or Bordeaux-Midi is a mainline and main railway station in the French city of Bordeaux. The station was on the line of the CF du Midi. The current station building opened in 1898. As well as Midi trains, the station accepted trains from the PO and Etat. The station was built by M Toudoire and S Choron. The station building, situated in Bordeaux city centre at the end of the Cours de la Marne, appears from the front as three parts. The middle part is home to the station buffet and separates the arrivals and departures halls. All three parts are parallel to the platforms. The station buildings hide a large rooftop, built by Gustave Eiffel, which is 56 m wide and covers 17,000 m². Since the arrival of the TGV the station has been renovated and upgraded with modern equipment, but has kept its original features. The great hall has a large map of the network of the Midi on one of the walls and reminds passengers of the origins of the station. The station is the main railway interchange in Aquitaine and links Bordeaux to Paris, Sète, Toulouse Matabiau and Spain. A large metal viaduct, also built by Eiffel, carries the railway over the River Garonne. The two-track bridge is currently a bottleneck and is to be converted into a shopping centre, with a new four-track viaduct built next to it.

Mit seinen knapp 30.000 Reisenden täglich ist er der frequenzstärkste im Südwesten von Frankreich. Die Station wurde von der CF du Midi in Jahre 1898 eröffnet. Neben Zügen von CF du Midi, hielten auch Züge der Gesellschaften Chemin de Fer de Paris à Orléans und Chemin de Fer de l'État. Das Bahnhofsgebäude befindet sich in Stadtzentrum von Bordeaux, am Ende des „Cours de la Marne“. Die Station hat ein großes Dach, welches von Gustave Eiffel gebaut wurde, dieses ist 56 m breit und misst ca. 17.000 m². Seit der Bahnhof von TGV-Zügen angefahren wird, was seit 1988 der Fall ist, wurde der komplette Bahnhof renoviert und modernisiert, jedoch seine ursprünglichen Eigenschaften behalten. Nördlich des Bahnhof wird die Zulaufstrecke zum Bahnhof über ein zweigleisige Brücke über die Garonne geführt. Diese Brücke jedoch ist derzeit ein Engpass und soll in Zukunft in eine viergleisige Brücke umgebaut werden.
