Galima Shugurova is a Soviet Individual Rhythmic Gymnast born in Omsk on November 8, 1953. She was the third Soviet Rhythmic Gymnast to become World All-Around champion and the first ever European All-Around champion in 1978. Shugurova is an ethnic Tatar. She first appeared on the world stage in Varna, Bulgaria in 1969 at 14 years of age, by the end of her debut she had two golds - rope and ball. Four years later she had enormous charisma and an excellent standard of gymnastics.
