Two remixes of his featured Bob Marley compositions: "Sun Is Shining" and "Rainbow Country" (number seven). Otteson was the first producer to receive clearance from the Marley estate to release official remixes of the late singer's music (although bootleg mixes of Marley tunes have circulated in the club world for years). These songs were officially credited to Bob Marley vs. Funkstar de Luxe. He also had a Top 5 U.S. dance chart hit with a remix of Grace Jones' 1981 song, "Pull Up to the Bumper". Funkstar then released his first album, Funkturistic, in 2002, from which the single "Blinded by the Light" was extracted.
