Fredrik Carlstrom started his career answering phones at an advertising agency. He later started writing and went to school for creative writing. Half way through school he founded an ad agency called Graceland Sthlm, at the age of 21. The agency grew to be creatively acclaimed and was specially known for its unorthodox approach and merging of entertainment and advertising. At the agency he also started directing commercials.

Destricted premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival.
