John Francis Stanley Russell, 2nd Earl Russell known as Frank Russell, (12 August 1865 – 3 March 1931) was the elder surviving son of Viscount Amberley and his wife the Honourable Katharine (Kate) Stanley, and was raised by his paternal grandparents after his unconventional parents both died young. He was the grandson of former prime minister, John Russell, 1st Earl Russell and elder brother of philosopher Bertrand Russell.

Elizabeth ne se priva pas de caricaturer par la suite son mari dans ses romans. Lord Russell fut le premier Pair du Royaume-Uni à joindre le parti travailliste. Il fut sous-secrétaire d'État aux transports et aux affaires indiennes dans le gouvernement de Ramsay MacDonald. Il soutint le pacifisme de son frère, et fut un proche ami de George Santayana. À sa mort, c'est son frère Bertrand Russell qui lui succède au titre de comte Russell.
