FSN Midwest began in the November 1989 as Prime Sports Midwest as an affiliate of the Prime Network, which then was seen mainly in Indiana, before moving westward in 1994. It joined Fox Sports Net and changed its name to Fox Sports Midwest on November 1, 1996, then to Fox Sports Net Midwest in 1999, FSN Midwest in July 2004 and now with its current name. In early 2008, as part of a deal to return Kansas City Royals to FSN, Fox Sports Kansas City was spun-off Fox Sports Midwest as the new FSN affiliate for the Kansas City market.
