Folsom State Prison is a California State Prison located in the city of Folsom, United States, 20 miles (32 km) north east from the state capital of Sacramento. Opened in 1880, Folsom is the second-oldest prison in the state of California after San Quentin and was the first in the country to have electricity. In 1937 werd cipier Clarence Larkin dodelijk verwond bij een uitbraakpoging. Hij is de enige cipier in Californië die is overleden tijdens zijn werk. Sinds de jaren dertig worden de kentekenplaten van de staat Californië gemaakt in FSP. Daarnaast fabriceert de gevangenis ook andere metalen voorwerpen en huisvest er een drukkerij. In de gevangenis is ook een museum met een winkel waar producten worden verkocht die door gevangenen zijn gemaakt.
