The Fiat Marea is a family car available as a saloon and an estate (Fiat Marea Weekend), produced by the Italian automaker Fiat. Launched in 1996, the Marea models were essentially different body styles of Fiat's hatchback offerings, the Bravo and Brava. The Marea replaced the earlier Tipo-based Fiat Tempra. While the Fiat Stilo Multiwagon is the successor of the Marea Weekend, the Fiat Linea is scheduled to replace the saloon version in 2007.

La version Jtd 105 qui celle qui a retenu le plus de suffrages parmi les acquéreurs, du fait de son homogénéité et de ses consommations réduites. Coté Essence, le 1.6 16v était un moteur surprenant de vivacité, il a même équipé les utilitaires dérivés du Scudo, les Citroën Jumpy et Peugeot Expert. Trois niveaux de finitions étaient disponibles : SX (base), ELX et HLX. Puis la série spéciale St-Moritz. De l'avis général, ce véhicule à souffert d'un manque de "charisme" dû à sa silhouette trop passe-partout. Cependant les versions break "weekend" ont été relativement bien prisées de par leur aspect très pratique et leur grande robustesse. Mais au delà de ces considérations esthétiques, la Marea à toujours été reconnue par une grande majorité de ses propriétaires comme un excellent véhicule, fiable, spacieux, bien équipé et très compétitif face à la concurrence. La Marea fut également la voiture la plus utilisée par les forces de Police italiennes durant les années 98-2002 (dans sa version 155 cv principalement) À noter qu'une version autrement plus performante a été commercialisée au Brésil. Le moteur 2.0 20v turbo a été emprunté au Fiat Coupé Turbo Plus, d'où des performances en nette hausse comparées aux 147 ch du 2.0 20v atmo commercialisé en Europe. Ce modèle hérite également d'un restylage de l'arrière avec l'intégration de feux de la Lancia Lybra berline. Entre temps, d'autres versions ont été insérées dans le catalogue. Comme la 2.4 20 v de 185 ch. Contrairement au marché européen, la Marea est une voiture de référence en Amérique du Sud, et bien évidemment au Brésil, pays où elle est toujours au catalogue en 2008. il n'est pas rare d'en croiser des dizaines en très peu de temps. Les aficionados Brésiliens reconnaissent volontiers que ce véhicule est très malléable, et facilement modifiable. Certains ont réussi des préparations moteurs jusqu'à 330 ch puis 500, puis 650 ch ! Mais évidemment à ce niveau là, le châssis n'est pas assez rigoureux pour supporter une telle puissance.
