Localiza-se a uma latitude 37.81667 (37°49') Norte e a uma longitude 25.633 (25°39') Oeste, estando a uma altitude de 1 metros. Tem uma estrada que liga a Mosteiros e Ribeira Grande. A actividade principal é a agricultura. É banhada pelo Oceano Atlântico a Norte. Pertence a esta freguesia o lugar de Aflitos, importante núcleo residencial e local de implantação do Campo de Golfe da Batalha. Foi também nesta freguesia que nasceu, em 22 de Agosto de 1626, o padre Bartholomeu do Quental,nomeado em 1654, confessor da Capela da Casa Real e seu Pregador, ao tempo do reinado do rei D. João IV, foi fundador da Congregação do Oratório de Lisboa, autor de uma vasta obra teológica, faleceu a 20 de Dezembro de 1698 com 72 anos de idade, originando uma grande consternação em toda a corte.
