Faryd Aly Camilo Mondragón is a Colombian football goalkeeper who currently plays for the German club 1. FC Köln and the Colombian national team. He was born to Colombian and Lebanese parents. Mondragón represented Turkish power Galatasaray from 2001 to 2007, where he won two Turkish Super League titles in 2002 and 2006. He was appreciated by the fans for his many saves and his commitment to the success of the team, and also become known for his prayers before and during games.

He also had stints with Deportivo Cali, Independiente Santa Fe (Colombia), Cerro Porteño (Paraguay), Argentinos Juniors, Independiente (Argentina), Real Zaragoza (Spain) and FC Metz (France). He was a member of the Colombian teams that competed at the 1992 Summer Olympics and the 1998 FIFA World Cup. During the 1998 World Cup, he started in goal against England. Despite conceding two goals, he made some impressive saves and in doing so kept the score down to 2-0. At the end of the game he broke down in tears He transferred from Istanbul to 1. FC Köln in May, 2007. After arriving at his new club, he was forced to compete with established Köln goalkeeper Stefan Wessels for a spot in the starting eleven. After an intense pre-season, Mondragón was named as the new number one for 1. FC Köln. This resulted in Wessels leaving the club for Everton F.C. in England.

Pour sa première saison dans un championnat européen, Mondragon ne parvient pas à s'imposer, il retourne à l'Independiente dés la saison 99/00. C'est alors que le FC Metz fait appel à lui pour pallier le départ de Lionel Letizi au PSG. Brillant sous le maillot grenat, il est le grand artisan du maintien du FC Metz en L1 à l'issue de la saison 2000-2001 tant il a multiplié les exploits match après match pour assurer les victoires ou matchs nuls ayant permis ce maintien, le club se sauvant de justesse. Mais une obscure histoire de faux passeport vient ternir cette belle saison. Mondragon est reconnu coupable d'utiliser un faux passeport grec et malgré les circonstances atténuantes (le passeport lui aurait été fourni par des avocats véreux et le FC Metz n'avait pas atteint la limite de joueurs hors CEE), Mondragon est interdit de territoire français et doit quitter le pays. Il rebondit en Turquie au Galatasaray SK où il réalise de nouvelles grandes performances et devient double champion de Turquie ainsi que l'un des joueurs préférés des supporters. Après six saisons passées dans ce club, il rejoint le FC Köln. Son arrivée force le départ du gardien titulaire Stefan Wessels vers Everton.
