In 1999, Q-Free acquired the ticketing business of Nera Mobildata AS, a Norwegian supplier of ticketing systems primarily to ferry-companies in Norway. Since then, AFC systems have been developed and delivered to, among others the Norwegian counties of Nord-Trøndelag, Vestfold and Telemark. In addition to the project supplies, the company has been actively participating in the work with the Norwegian national smartcard specifications.
